Project debrief

Notes:

To allow team members to give feedback on their experiences of the project I arranged a debrief meeting. (And in an effort to disseminate best practice I made it an open meeting.)

The level of interest in the project was very high – almost everyone involved in development – from account reps, through project managers, developers, QA and the R&D group turned up.

The result was very gratifying – all the developers on the project were very very positive about the new ways of working – and keen to carry them forwards to their next project. Indeed they were so positive that they needed steering before they acknowledged that anything at all could have been done better.

Such debrief meetings ought to be a standard part of project completion – I've yet to see it happen though. (Because the "we haven't time for that yet" view still has too much weight.)
