Agile Manifesto: Principle 4
Business people and developers must work together daily throughout the project.
Notes:
Business people with enough knowledge of the operation to provide detailed requirements information and the authority to make binding decisions are valuable to the customer's organisation. I've never known them to be available to work with the development group on a daily basis throughout a project lifecycle.
Apart from a project I'm doing with my children (who are creating a computer game with me doing the framework) I've never had a project where business people are available as frequently as daily. Twice weekly meetings is the best I've ever know.
Kent Beck (“Extreme Programming Explained”) makes this an integral part of XP.
Alternatively, Alastair Cockburn (“Agile Software Development”) seems to find this principle hard to realise in practice.
